The Stockton Area Chamber of Commerce (SACC) 52nd annual banquet was held Saturday evening at the Ray H. Zumwalt Expo Center. Chamber President Chesi Haun, Vice President Amber Fidler, and Chamber member Robin Fischer emceed the event. Bill Crabtree, former Chamber president, and Willa Tucker, former secretary, were guests of honor. The highlight of the evening was the three awards given annually by the Chamber. more

A significant discussion involving two residents of Valley Lane Street in the Cassell addition of Stockton and a representative of Wanda Cassell over an unfilled mowing issued by the city last year led to the Stockton Board of Aldermen going into closed session for a decision at the regularly scheduled meeting in city hall Monday night. After the closed session, Mayor Brandon Cahill said, "The city is continuing their rescinding of the variance based on the evidence provided. The city as a whole is looking into a city-wide agricultural variance." more

It was 22 years in the making as the Stockton Tigers clinched at least a share of the Southwest Conference championship with a strong outing at Ash Grove last Friday, ending conference play with a 7-1 record and a 16-8 record on the season. Newcomer Skyline has one conference game remaining as they currently hold a 6-1 record in conference play. Should Skyline defeat Ash Grove, they and Stockton would be co-conference champions. Should Skyline fall to the Pirates, Stockton would be the sole conference winner. more

Our community is the BEST! On Thursday, February 6th, 53 people came out to the El Dorado Springs Church of Christ to donate blood. The folks at the Blood Drive have extended hours due to the blood shortage and our goal was to collect 50 units. We had 53 people register to donate and we collected 42 units of blood. We cannot save lives without your precious gift! Thank you so much! Blood from your donations go to many Hospitals, including El Dorado Springs, Nevada, Bolivar, Joplin and Springfield. more
It may be February, but July city fireworks were a topic of conversation when the Stockton Board of Aldermen met at city hall on January 27 for the regularly scheduled meeting. The city recently asked for firework display bids but had only received one bid. Bidding, however, is still open. Price and availability are the problems with finding a licensed fireworks business to do the show. However, if the one bid is finalized at the next meeting, the city fireworks display will be on June 28. more
Stockton local Faith King is almost finished with the new mural she is currently painting at the Stockton branch of the Cedar County Library. A recent donation from the Skaggs' Children's Literacy Fund has allowed for new renovations to the library's kids and youth section. more
