The opening of the McDonald's fast-food franchise in Stockton is tentatively set for July 14, 2026, and owner Ryan Blumenstock said he is pleased with the project's progress.
The new architectural design will combine a Route 66 theme, blending vintage highway nostalgia with modern digital innovations. The restaurant will feature retro Americana exteriors and roadside aesthetics, along with forward-looking technologies such as ordering kiosks, a parallel front counter and a DoorDash pickup area.
The drive-thru will be managed with a number of order, pull-through and pickup locations designed to ease wait times when ordering.
When speaking with Blumenstock, he wanted to highlight educational opportunities that the community may not be aware of. Statistically, one in eight Americans has been employed at a McDonald's franchise restaurant.
McDonald's operates a tuition assistance program, Archways to Opportunity, that is available to eligible employees. The program provides up to $2,500 per year for crew members and up to $5,250 per year for management employees.
Colorado Technical University offers 100% tuition coverage for more than 35 associate and bachelor's degree programs and allows employees to earn college credits for McDonald's training courses.
The program provides opportunities to earn a high school diploma, work toward a college degree or receive assistance in creating an education and career plan with advisors, all while earning an income.
With the hiring of a staff of approximately 50 employees, opportunities are available at every level, from crew members to maintenance and management positions. With the new restaurant, employees will gain knowledge and experience in a fast-paced work environment while working with new technologies and pursuing an education if they choose.
"Fast forward four years, a crew member can earn a paycheck, get a college education, and be college debt-free and ahead of 90% of their peers, no strings attached," Blumenstock said.
Blumenstock said he prefers his restaurants to operate in a "community-driven and family-friendly" environment and emphasized that management, including himself, is accessible and not a "distanced corporation."
With a well-known and popular menu, the restaurant will offer more than a fast meal. Opportunities in employment and education will be available to those seeking either short-term jobs or careers in the fast-food industry.
