Posted

Peter A. Lee, 50, a Stockton lawyer, was sentenced in Springfield this month for the theft of $296,140 over a six-year period, from January 2019 through February 2025, by making false statements to clients and financial institutions.

Lee devised a scheme to defraud his clients of funds for his personal gain and concealed the scheme by making false representations to clients and financial institutions. His targets included clients, estates of deceased individuals and a special needs trust. Additionally, he used proceeds from current thefts to repay victims of previous thefts.

Lee was sentenced to 24 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. He was ordered to pay $197,163.37 in restitution and forfeit $296,140.58.

As part of his federal plea agreement, Lee voluntarily surrendered his law license following his disbarment by the Missouri Supreme Court.
