The city of ElDo recently lost its long-time Chief of Police, Jarrod Schiereck, and two officers will be retiring soon, leaving some citizens concerned about how the department will be staffed. According to Bruce Rogers, city manager, one officer who is retiring will go to work for Cedar County after his retirement. Schiereck took a position out of the area. Last Tuesday, the Stockton Tigers opened the 2024 portion of their basketball schedule, hosting the Marionville Comets. Due to ongoing upgrades at Stockton High School, the game was moved to Stockton Middle School, the home of the Tigers from 1966 to 2008. With a touch of nostalgia in the air, the game was the Southwest Conference opener for both teams. The Comets and Tigers were coming off of losses, hoping to start the new year on the right foot. more

Although they reside in a different district, Adrian was a common opponent of both Lamar and Stockton. Lamar had defeated Adrian in December but Adrian had knocked off Stockton earlier in the season. With Adrian as a common opponent, the Lady Tigers needed the victory, hoping to leapfrog Lamar when district rankings are made in February. Adding to Stockton’s concern, starter Kila Burchett was injured and unable to play. more
