The Cedar County Historical Society met on Monday, September 23rd at the Cedar County Museum in Stockton. Members present were: President Judy Nichols, Vice President Chris Barber, Treasurer Anna Hopkins, Assistant Secretary Sheila Griggs, Judi Cain, Sharyl Henry, Virginia Barber, Bob Phillips, Ellis Benham and Frank Stranimier.

Woody sprouts, such as Honey Locust, Hedge, and Persimmon, are the most difficult to control. Their root systems are very strong and hardy. Often found in abandoned fields, poorly managed pastures, hay meadows, and newly opened timber ground these plants can greatly reduce the grazing potential and hay quality on our farms. When targeting these along with Oaks, Hickories, Cedars, and all other woody plants, we need to think about what our outcome needs to be.

The Stockton High School class of 1969 will meet on September 27 at the Gathering Place in Stockton. Doors will open at 3 p.m. for setup and cold drinks. The meet-and-greet with classmates, friends, former teachers, and families will begin at 4 p.m.
