The Stockton United Methodist Church Go Green Team is collecting gently used Halloween costumes for a community costume swap planned for 2027.

The new initiative aims to keep usable costumes out of landfills while helping local families save money. Halloween costumes are often worn only once before being discarded or stored away, even though they remain in good condition.

By giving costumes a second life, organizers hope to make it easier for families to find affordable Halloween attire while reducing waste and the release of harmful microplastics into the environment.

Costumes may be dropped off Sunday, Nov. 1, and Sunday, Nov. 8, from 9:15 to 9:40 a.m. or 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Stockton United Methodist Church, under the portico on the east side of the building.

Organizers ask that donated costumes be clean, in good condition and include all pieces.

Costumes in all sizes, from infants to adults, are welcome.

Donated costumes will be sorted and stored until next year. Dates and additional details for the 2027 community costume swap will be announced at a later date.
