As if facing the Lady Bulldogs wasn’t enough of a challenge, Coach Brett Burchett and his Lady Tigers found themselves without the services of freshman starter Hayleigh Burres, who was injured in a game the previous week.

Cold weather most likely kept some people from a public meeting Monday night held by the Stockton Board of Aldermen. However, a lively discussion of Stockton and Cedar County policing policies occurred both in the Community Center meeting and through call-in questions by citizens watching online. Mayor Brandon Cahill introduced a concept through PowerPoint that could be an alternative to signing a contract with the county for police protection. Alderman Dean Higley summed up the long meeting with this statement: "We need to hear from you…." indicating his personal opinion did not matter, an opinion echoed throughout the night by the mayor and the board.

Missouri’s weather forecast indicates snow and snow showers are expected. For part of the state, this could be the first snow of the season. Whether it’s a dusting or several inches, it can affect travel. Be sure to increase your following distance as you drive; stopping quickly on wet, snowy, or icy roads can be hazardous or impossible. Be aware that elevated roadways such as bridges and ramps may freeze faster, and a roadway that appears wet could be icy. Leaving at least five seconds between your vehicle and the one in front of you is always a smart idea, especially in inclement weather. During 2022 there were 51 people killed and 1,969 people injured in more than 7,500 crashes with weather conditions of snow, sleet/hail, or freezing.

JEFFERSON CITY – The Division of Fire Safety is urging caution as temperatures across Missouri plunge well below freezing for an extended period and more residents turn to space heaters and supplemental heating sources to provide additional heat in their homes. With temperatures running below zero this week, it may be time to focus on the fact that after winter comes spring. Always. Forever. And Ben and Janae Graham's entire family is expecting this spring. They are expecting their first new calves of their registered herd of Black Angus. They are expecting their ducklings to hatch. They are expecting their herbs and produce to pop out of the ground. And Janae Graham will go foraging for all sorts of herbs to add to her handmade herbal remedies. Their businesses are thriving on their holistic, all-natural farm just outside of Fair Play. It is a dream come to fruition for the Graham family. The dream started in 2020, and according to Janae, it has "...turned into a fun reality."
