Dr. Brandon Foley will be moving up to the High School Principal’s position with the start of the 24-25 school year. He will be filling the vacancy as Mr. Jim Flora is moving on to become the Head Master at a new private Christian School in Springfield. Dr. Foley brings 3 years of administrative experience into this position. Before taking the position here at Stockton Middle School, he was an administrator at Hollister.

On January 22, around 12:52 PM, Deputy Daniels and Deputy Yokley from the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office were sent to a structure fire. Deputy Daniels reached the scene first at approximately 1:00 p.m. When he arrived, he found the attic of the house was on fire. The attic was just above the families’ wood-burning stove.

The Vernon County Sheriff's Department has charged Bradley Keith with 2nd-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm stemming from the case in Cedar County where Keith and two others allegedly burned the body of Shaniya S. Haynes, 27, formerly of Joplin. Keith is in Cedar County jail, facing charges of tampering with physical evidence and abandonment of a corpse. A Cedar County arrest report lists Keith as from El Dorado, but some reports have said he was homeless. Jimi C. Cole, 44, of Stockton, and Brandon Choate, 44, face the Cedar County charges of tampering with physical evidence and abandonment of a corpse.

The Stockton north water tower (no. 3) will soon be transformed from the picture on the left to the picture on right. The board recently accepted the bid from Maquire Water to repaint both the north and south towers inside and out for a cost of over $500,000. The north tower will be painted first and have the design of the picture on the right. The south tower (no. 4) near the schools will be painted later with a design reflecting a school logo.

The Stockton Lady Tigers played host to the weather delayed 14th Annual Stockton Invitational Tournament last week, entering the tournament as a #8 seed as they faced the #1 seed, and #1 ranked Class 3 girls basketball team, the El Dorado Springs Lady Bulldogs. As if facing the Lady Bulldogs wasn’t enough of a challenge, Coach Brett Burchett and his Lady Tigers found themselves without the services of freshman starter Hayleigh Burres, who was injured in a game the previous week.

Bradley E. Keith, 43, of El Dorado Springs, Jimi C. Cole, 44, of Stockton, and Brandon Choate, 44, of Lamar have all been charged with tampering with physical evidence in a felony and abandonment of a corpse following their arrests January 17. They are all being held in the Cedar County jail. According to court records, additional charges may be pending. Both Choate and Cole are being held on $200,000 bonds. Keith is being held with no bond.
