Stockton Trails Initiative Coalition hosts eighth Cryptid Hunter hike

A large group of hikers gathered Saturday, Oct. 10, for the eighth hike of the Stockton Trails Initiative Coalition’s Cryptid Hunter Hiking Series, covering 4 miles of the Lakeview Trail at Stockton State Park. The Stockton Trails Initiative Coalition (STIC) held its eighth hike of the Cryptid Hunter Hiking Series on Saturday, Oct. 10, covering the bottom 4 miles of the 8-mile Lakeview Trail at Stockton State Park.

The final hike of the series, Hodag, will be held at Sorters South at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17.

Hikers received a water bottle at the beginning of the series and accumulate stickers for each completed event to place on their bottles. Those who complete seven of the nine hikes will be eligible for a drawing for gift cards and prizes.

The grand finale, “Trail of Creatures and Cryptids,” will be held at 5 p.m. Oct. 17 at Old Mill-Aubrees Nature Trail in the park area below Stockton Dam.

The event will feature concessions and vendors, Creepy Creatures from Dickerson Park Zoo hosted by the Stockton Lake Sertoma Club, a photo booth and a 14-station cryptid trail walk featuring stories and presentations.
