Trent-Sallee American Legion Post 230, along with professional anglers, local outfitters and Legion members, held its eighth annual fishing event, hosting the nonprofit organization Camp Valor Outdoors.

More than a dozen anglers took to the waters of Stockton Lake, with local residents Kris Nelson, Kevin Miller, George Spicer, Chris Choate, Roy Anderson and Mike Armesto providing equipment and lake experience.

Professional Solo Series Director Randy Conlon and Bass Pro-sponsored angler Bobby Albert volunteered two days on the water for the veterans.

Camp Valor Outdoors’ purpose and mission is to recognize and honor wounded, ill, injured and homeless veterans and their families by providing opportunities to participate in competitive outdoor activities, with the goal of reducing veteran suicide.

American Legion Post 230, its members and volunteer families strive to assist veterans with the same goal in mind. The popular event is a success story, with the goals of both organizations complementing one another.

The event concluded with a fish fry dinner hosted by American Legion Post 230’s Auxiliary and Sons of the Legion, where awards were presented.
