Greater Things Faith Ministries invites community to opening service

Posted

A new ministry opportunity will begin June 7 as Pastor Mark Grotheer and his wife, Shari, open the doors of The Gathering Place and begin serving the community through worship, teaching and fellowship.

The opening service for Greater Things Faith Ministries will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 7, at The Gathering Place, 401 North St. in Stockton.

The Grotheers have been involved in ministry for more than 40 years and say they are stepping out in faith to follow God's calling to preach, teach and worship.

For many years, the couple has faithfully served as part of the support team within their church, assisting in ministry wherever needed. Now, they believe God is calling them into a new season of service as a pastor and pastor's wife, leading a congregation of their own.

While The Gathering Place will serve as their ministry home for now, the couple hopes to build a congregation and eventually establish a permanent home church.

"We just want to bring the lost to Jesus," Shari Grotheer said. "We have been blessed to have been involved in several mission trips, and we have seen how badly the world needs Jesus."

Shari has served as a praise and worship leader for many years and will continue to lead worship as part of the ministry. The couple has two sons and has spent decades serving in various ministry roles.

Mark Grotheer said his desire is to teach God's Word and reach those who may not yet know Christ.

"We want people to know the Word of God and develop a relationship with Jesus," he said.

Greater Things Faith Ministries describes itself as a Spirit-filled, Full Gospel ministry. Services will emphasize the power of the blood of Jesus, thanksgiving, praise and worship, biblical teaching and a reliance on the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

The couple hopes that as people come to faith, opportunities for Bible studies and additional ministry programs will naturally develop.

While the ministry is just beginning, the Grotheers are trusting God to guide its future and provide opportunities to serve the community.

The Grotheers said everyone is welcome to attend, whether they have a home church or are currently not attending church.
