Weapons involved, felony charges filed
The Cedar County Sheriff's Office received a call at approximately 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 27, from a residence in Stockton in reference to an assault and theft of a firearm, according to information obtained from Sheriff James McCrary.
Deputies were dispatched and responded to the scene immediately.
Shortly after arrival, CCSO deputies determined there had been an altercation between roommates and a dispute over personal property.
During investigations at the scene, it became evident suspect Danny T. Cole, Stockton, allegedly pulled a semi-automatic pistol from his hip and pointed it at the victim.
While at gunpoint, the victim disarmed Cole, struck him with the pistol and fled from the residence while Cole allegedly grabbed a knife in an effort to continue the assault.
Shortly thereafter, Cole was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a weapon — a felony in the state of Missouri.
Cole was booked into Cedar County Jail, posted bail and is currently out on bond pending his next court appearance.
McCrary credited CCSO deputies for a quick response and thorough investigation at the scene which resulted in the swift and uneventful apprehension of Cole.
As with any criminal case, it should be remembered a charge is merely an accusation and all defendants are innocent until proven guilty.
