I never forget my anniversary because it is the 4th of July. Easy to remember the day; however, I don’t really remember the year Donnie and I married. It’s either 1997, 1998 or 1999. I just can’t seem to remember. Whatever the year, we always celebrate with family, friends and sometimes even strangers the Saturday the city does its fireworks.

We invite anyone who would like to bring their drinks and lawn chairs to sit in our yard across from the football field and watch the night light up with a spectacular display in celebration of our country’s independence and Donnie and mine’s 19, 20 or 21st anniversary.

We generally cook some type of meat and everyone brings a side dish. However, this year we are helping the lake celebrate its 50th anniversary (they seem to be able to remember their anniversary year) Friday and Saturday below the dam. We will be working the event both days, and won’t be cooking. We will, of course, still have our yard open beginning at 7 p.m. for anyone who wants to bring a snack to share and watch the fireworks as usual.

So much celebrating going on and so little time. Join us below the dam and in our backyard for a lot of fun!
