Visitation: 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs. Service: 2 p.m. Thursday, funeral home. Burial: Following in Love Cemetery.

Mrs. Curtis, 89, El Dorado Springs, died Monday at Community Springs Healthcare Facility, where she had resided for the past six years. She was born in Cedar County to Willie and Nettie Mays.

She grew up in the Lelia-Flat Rock community and lived her entire life in Cedar County. She married Clarence Marion Parsley in 1939, and after his death in 1973, married Herschel Curtis.

She was a faithful member of the Church of God (Holiness), attended services at the El Dorado Springs and Blackjack churches as long as she was able and was saved as a young woman.

Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Myers and husband Lowell of Humansville; a grandson, Vance Myers of El Dorado Springs; three great-granddaughters, Darcie Dillé and husband T.J. of Springfield, Krysta Myers of Excello and Alyssa Myers of Springfield; a great-grandson, Gabriel Christian Myers of Lamar; three great-great-grandsons, Ember, Noah, and Asher Dillé; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Nettie Mays; an infant daughter, Marion Marcelle; her first husband, Clarence Parsley; a brother, Elmer Mays; her second husband, Herschel Curtis; and infant twin grandsons.

Visitation was at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs, with services following at 2 p.m. with the Revs. James Coleman and Joe Trussell officiating. Burial will follow in Love Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.blandhackleman.com.
