Local service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, Stockton Christian Church. Visitation: 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, Northside Christian Church, Warrensburg. Service: 11 a.m., church. Disposition: Ashes were buried in Warrensburg Memorial Garden.

Mr. Pennington, 87, Stockton, a rancher, formerly of Warrensburg, died Sunday, Oct. 7, in Lake Stockton Healthcare Facility. He was born to Roy and Alma Pennington near Warrensburg.

He married Shirley Bell Nov. 1, 1952.

For more than 30 years, he and Delores “Dee” Garrels were life partners and raised prize-winning cattle on a ranch near Stockton.

Survivors include three daughters, Debbie Sutton and husband Mike of Warrensburg, Melinda Milner and husband Steve of Plano, Texas and Teresa Wright and husband Kevin of Lee’s Summit; a son, Mike Pennington and wife Cheryl of Kansas City; a sister, Mary Lou Lawson of Warrensburg; a sister-in-law, Marcine Pennington of Warrensburg; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, July 1983; his parents; two brothers, R.E. “Bill” Pennington and Gene Pennington; and a grandson, Nathan Wright.
