Registrations are now being accepted for the picnic’s Sam's Scavenger Scrimmage, which will begin at noon, Saturday, July 21, at the bandstand.

All teams must pre-register.  Teams will consist of 3-5 people at least 18 years old or older.  Each team will receive one copy of the clues and everyone must stay together.

One team member must be the designated photographer with all of the other members in the pictures and the pictures must also include the numbered card that corresponds to the clue and the red X posted at each correct site. 

A captain will be the team spokesperson and will be the one to check in with the committee. Committee members accepting registrations are Debbie Floyd, (417) 876-2864, Judi Baldwin, (417) 876-2691 and Tammy Melton (417) 296-3296.

Those who get voice mail must leace their team name, names of each team member and a contact phone number.

Picnic seeking vendor, booth operators

There is still time to purchase vendor, club or craft booth space.  Call 876-2691 or 879-2521 to get an application from city hall.  To reserve booth space all payments must be in cash or money order.      

Booths will be set up beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 18.

Trailers will be allowed to set up first with vendor tents and tables to follow.

Carnival wrist bands on sale

Carnival wrist bands will be on sale at city hall beginning Monday-Friday, July 16-20 for $21. Only cash will be accepted.

Wristband tickets may also be purchased at the carnival ticket booths for $23 per night at the fair.

Most rides require height of 32” or taller to ride.

Talent contest registration

Registration for the picnic’s talent contest is underway. The contest will be 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 19. The contest will be limited to 25 contestants. To register, call (417) 876-2691.

Prize money of $100 will be presented to the overall winner. There also will be prizes for winners in the age-group categories.

Street dance

The first public event of the Founders Day Picnic is the street dance with the band Rekoil outside the city’s community center 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 11.

Karaoke in the park

The public is invited to participate in the first-ever karaoke in the park as part of the picnic, 5 p.m. Saturday, July 21.
