Board Election
The Pleasant Hope R-VI School District will hold their annual school board member election on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. The purpose of this election will be to elect two (2) members to the Board of Education. Each elected term will be 3 years in length.
A candidate must be a US citizen, at least 24 years of age, a Missouri resident for at least 1 year, and a resident of the school district. Newly elected board members must attend 18.5 hours of training and orientation during their first year. Persons interested in filing as a candidate may file in the District Office located at 100 W. Cowden St, Pleasant Hope, MO. Candidates filing on the first day will draw a number at random and names are placed on the ballot in ascending order of the numbers drawn, ahead of the names of candidates filing on a later date. The names of candidates filing on later dates are placed on the ballot after the first day filing candidates, in order of filing. Candidates may file in-person beginning on December 5, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and December 6th through December 26th during regular business hours from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday-Friday. The District office will not be open on inclement weather days or regularly scheduled school days out. The District office will remain open from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on the last day of filing, December 26, 2023.
In accordance with law, candidates may file by certified mail if they are unable to file the declaration of candidacy and other necessary paperwork in person due to a physical disability or because they are members of the U.S. Armed Forces on active duty. Upon request, the District will provide potential candidates the necessary paperwork prior to the opening date of candidate filing and during the filing period.
