According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, a 16-year-old female juvenile — who is not identified in the report — was westbound in a 2007 Pontiac G5 on U.S. 54 with a 7-year-old male passenger at around 5:30 p.m.

The wreck occured two miles west of El Dorado Springs when the 16-year-old driver traveled off the right side of the road, overcorrected and crossed the center line.

“The vehicle then overcorrected again, traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a ditch, overturned and struck a fence,” the report stated.

The 7-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries from the wreck and the 16-year-old driver suffered moderate injuries. They were transported by ambulance to Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs. Both were wearing seat belts, per the report.
