Stockton High School’s Tigers enjoyed playing baseball last week. Against Mount Vernon, Stockton won 6-4. The Tigers also rolled past Pleasant Hope 11-0. Both games were played on the road.
After coming off a district championship against El Dorado Springs, Stockton (18-9) went to win with a last minute offensive play in the first round of sectionals against Conway (27-4), Monday, May 25, 2-1.
With two back-to-back wins against conference competitors, the Stockton Tigers took the lead in the conference 3-0, winning over both Ash Grove and Strafford by 10-0.
The El Dorado Springs Bulldogs had a hard week, first falling to Warsaw Tuesday, April 14, and then suffering back to back losses at the Clever festival Friday-Saturday, April 10-11.
After completing the game coach Darin Henderson calls “probably the best we have played all year,” the Stockton Tigers are on their way to the conference title.
Scott Cluck, area supervisor for Casey’s General Stores, presents a check for $1,000 to coach Jarrod Mays and the Bulldog baseball team. The funds are part of Casey’s Charitable Giving program, and will be used to help fund a new press box for the baseball field.
