SIDNEY EARL KINYON

Sidney Earl Kinyon, 79, passed away at 8:48 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 26, at his home following an illness.

Sid was born April 10, 1939 in Galena, Kansas. His parents were Joseph and Mildred Irene (Walker) Kinyon. He was raised in Galena and graduated with the Galena High School Class of 1957.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-63. 

On December 14, 1963, he and Edith Ann Powell were united in marriage in Riverton, Kansas. She survives.

He was a printer by trade. From 1989-2000, he owned and operated Masterprint in Baxter Springs, Kansas. Following his retirement he began working for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers as a gate attendant. He worked with them while wintering in Lake Georgetown or Taylor, Texas, and also would work at Stockton Lake in Missouri during the summer.

He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Stockton. His favorite pastimes were motorcycle riding, fishing and camping. 

He was an avid Kansas University basketball fan.

Surviving in addition to his lovely wife, Ann, is one son, Joseph D. Kinyon and wife, Sarah, Stockton; one daughter, Cynthia L Kinyon, Stockton; two sisters, Carolyn White of Litchfield Park, Arizona and Judy Gilstrap of Galena, Kansas; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren, and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Lynne Ann Phillips.

Sid was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, Kansas for cremation.

The family will celebrate his life with a memorial service at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 2, at First Southern Baptist Church, Stockton. Pastor Jason Mabry and Steve Clark will officiate.
