Mrs. Burton, 78, Stockton, died Monday, Feb. 5, at her home after a long illness. She was born in Bethany, Harrison County, to Clyde and Katie Sweeten, the next to the youngest of 15 children — two brothers and 13 sisters.
She married Leonard Burton April 18, 1998, and worked several jobs, but most of her years were spent as a social service worker.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard of Stockton; four sisters, Virginia Winkler of Kansas City, Geneva Tacket of St. Louis, Helen Omstead of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Billie Meinecke of Bethany; a brother, J.C. Sweeten of Garland, Texas; and 12 nieces and 10 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and eight sisters.
