Joseph H. Lehman, 83, Stockton, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018. Joe was born in Billings Nov. 11, 1934, to Adolph and Theresa Lehman. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Ronald; and sisters, Helen Lange, Virginia Twilling and Jean Mais.

Joe is survived by his wife of 58 years, Emma Leigh (nee DeJager); a daughter, Cynthia; grandchildren, Christopher, Alison and Grace of Westlake, Ohio; a sister, Ann Stever of Billings; and many nieces and nephews.

Joe was a graduate of Billings High School and Draughon’s Business College in Springfield, and later completed transportation management and marketing programs at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois and USC in Los Angeles, California.

Joe started his railroad career with the Frisco Railroad in 1956 before moving to the Santa Fe Railway where he held various clerical positions in the freight and passenger departments in St. Louis, Cincinnati and Memphis. He was promoted to city freight and passenger agent in St. Louis, area sales representative in Cincinnati and then district sales manager in Cleveland. In Cleveland, he also served as president of the Ohio-Western Reserve Chapter of American Society of Traffic and Transportation. He was promoted to regional sales manager in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and then to director of automotive business in Detroit. After retiring from Santa Fe, Joe worked for Mark VII Transportation Company as vice president national sales.

Joe and Emma Leigh moved to Stockton in 1990, where they enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting and spending two months every winter in Gulf Shores, Alabama,
