JOHN LESLIE McGOWIN JR.

May 11, 1961-March 29, 2015

Remembrance of life service: 2 p.m. Saturday, April 4, Harvest Assembly of God Church, Fair Play. Disposition: Cremation.

John McGowin, 53, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, March 29, 2015. John’s pure heart and tender cadence, was sure to be noticed by all who spent time with him. His family and friends are undoubtedly feeling a great sense of sadness at the news of John’s departure from this life.

Johnny always enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was known to spend time fishing and hunting with his brothers. His nieces and nephews enjoy memories of playing cards, target practice, fireworks, touch football and barbecuing with Uncle Johnny. He always was sharing his knowledge of history and music.

Johnny was a Fair Play, Missouri, native, but currently lived in Lake of the Ozarks, where he has worked and resided for the last several years. He truly enjoyed his work, with boss Travis Coleman, maintaining and detailing boats.

Survivors include a son, Justin Martin of Wichita, Kansas; his mother, Pearl McGowin of Stockton, Missouri; his father, John McGowin and wife Cora of Osage Beach, Missouri; siblings, Tom and fiancee Lori of Geneseo, Illinois, Bill of Fair Play, Missouri, and Robert and wife Wendy, Earl and Marge and husband Kerry, all Stockton, Missouri, and Kim of Pittsburg, Kansas; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nephews, a great-niece and numerous in-laws that he will be greatly missed by.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Marjorie McGowin; grandmother, Arlene Workman; an aunt, Donna Wingert; and several second cousins and spouses that he loved dearly.

A very special thanks to Travis Coleman and Donnie and Rayetta Higginbotham for all their support.

Rest in Peace Mongo.
