Ethel Maxine Dodson died Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at Northwood Hills Care Center in Humansville.
She moved to Cedar County when she was 3 years old. She attended Alder and High Point schools, and went to high school at Bear Creek.
Maxine was saved at Alder Church when she was 11 years old. For years she taught the primary Sunday school at Humansville Bible Church. She also worked in vacation Bible schools, and always was willing to help people when they needed it.
Maxine married Bernard Dodson Feb. 27, 1944, in Humansville. To this union four sons were born — Gary, Roy, Mark and Willie. She spent her entire life as a farmer’s wife. She cared for her mother and mother-in-law until they died. She was called Granny by most who knew her, and was loved by all.
Survivors include her husband, Bernard; three sons, Gary, Roy and wife Robbie, Mark and wife Vicki and Willie and wife Cheri; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, three sisters and a granddaughter.
