Candice “Candy” Lynn Thornton, Springfield, Missouri, passed from this life Saturday, May 16, 2015. She was 38 years old.

Candy was born Aug. 31, 1976, to Ernest and Debra Kitch at Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs, Missouri. She was Ernest and Debra’s second child. She grew up in El Dorado Springs and attended El Dorado Springs Elementary and High School. Growing up, Candy was a tomboy, loving bugs and turtles. Every time she would find a turtle, it became a pet. She would play outside for hours until she was called home by her mom at dark. She loved to ride bikes and was a sweet little girl. As she grew up, she loved spending time with friend and attending school events. She was a good friend to all who knew her. She was baptized in 2012, acknowledging Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at North Point Church in Springfield, Missouri.

Candy was her happiest when surrounded by her many friends and family. Candice has three sons born to former unions. Curtis and Caleb Langford of Lamar, Missouri, and Cameron Callihan of Springfield, Missouri. She married Wade Thornton Feb. 10, 2001. To this union was born, three sons, Bradley Thornton, Chandler Thornton and Layne Thornton, who reside in Stockton, Missouri.

Candice was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Ann and Chet Foster and Bill Nutter; her paternal grandparents, Ernestine Kitch and Claude Leroy Kitch; a grandmother and father-in-law, Bob and Edith Buell, Wanda Thornton and “Grandma” Evelyn McMasters; and a step-daughter, Reese Thornton.

Candice was survived by her husband, Wade Thornton; her mother and father, Ernest Kitch and Debra Floyd; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Cheryl Thornton and Kenneth Thornton; six sons, Curtis Langford, Caleb Langford, Cameron Callihan, Bradley Thornton, Chandler Thornton and Layne Thornton; three step-daughters, Lauren Thornton, Brice Thornton and Taylor Thornton; three sisters, Melonie Hixson, Courtney Stultz and Savannah Kitch; two brothers, Travis Kitch and Payton Kitch; a sister-in-law, Tabitha Erickson; two brothers-in-law, Oran Thornton and Trevor Thornton; and two grandchildren, Zander Sharp and Alessandra Smithson.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at Brumback Funeral home, Stockton, Missouri. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 21, at Church on the Hill, Stockton, Missouri. Pastors Beau Norman and Kenny Batson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Brumback Funeral Home to help with the funeral expenses.
