Barbara A. Hobbs, 77, went home to be with the Lord Friday, Jan. 5, 2018. Barbara was born June 19, 1940 in Pontiac, Michigan, to Percy and Elizabeth Jane Hocking Riddle. Barbara moved from Michigan to Baldwin Park, California when she was the age of 5. She completed high school in June 1958, followed by LPN school. Barbara married the love of her life, Don Hobbs Nov. 18, 1960. To this marriage were born three children, Debbie Lynn, Cindy Lynn and John Edward. Barbara and Don enjoyed 44 special years of marriage together.

Barbara worked as a nurse in the early years of their marriage, after having their children, the family moved to Goleta, California, where Barbara enjoyed rising their children. She worked at a variety store for a time, then went to work at Samsum Medical Clinic in Santa Barbara. She loved her job and all her co-workers. The family moved to Stockton in July 1979. Barbara worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Neale Johnson DDS in Stockton until 1984. She loved her job and working with the wonderful Johnson family. Due to health reasons, she was forced to an early retirement. In September 2004 Barbara’s friend and “Angel” Karen Wollaston selflessly donated Barbara her kidney, which allowed her to live dialysis free for 13 years.

Survivors include, a daughter, Debbie Haines and husband Mike of Stockton; a son, John Hobbs and wife Sheila of Stockton; two granddaughters, ”whom she loved with all her heart,” Ashley Nicole Hobbs and Kayla Elizabeth Hobbs; two brothers, Will Riddle and wife Linda of Fallbrook, California, and David Riddle of Oceanside, California; a sister -in-law, Donna Broyles of Bois D’Arc; a nephew, Tracy Riddle of Fallbrook, California; nieces, Lynn Shank and Sheila Partch; several cousins, Cynthia Giltner, whom she loved as a daughter; Karen Wollaston, whom she referred to as “her angel;” and her friend and companion and the light of her life for the past seven years, Robert “Bob” Hicks of Stockton.

She was preceded in death by both parents; husband, Donald F. Hobbs; a daughter, Cindy Lynn; cousin, Ray Caddy; several aunts and uncles; and nephews, Larry Dodd and Kevin Shank.
