JEFFERSON CITY – The Division of Fire Safety is urging caution as temperatures across Missouri plunge well below freezing for an extended period and more residents turn to space heaters and supplemental heating sources to provide additional heat in their homes. Most years, space heaters account for about one-third of home heating fires and 80 percent of heating fire deaths. Overloaded extension cords, power strips and generators also pose danger. more
With temperatures running below zero this week, it may be time to focus on the fact that after winter comes spring. Always. Forever. And Ben and Janae Graham's entire family is expecting this spring. They are expecting their first new calves of their registered herd of Black Angus. They are expecting their ducklings to hatch. They are expecting their herbs and produce to pop out of the ground. And Janae Graham will go foraging for all sorts of herbs to add to her handmade herbal remedies. Their businesses are thriving on their holistic, all-natural farm just outside of Fair Play. It is a dream come to fruition for the Graham family. The dream started in 2020, and according to Janae, it has "...turned into a fun reality." more

What happens to the town of Stockton when items left on the porch of the Stockton Area Ministerial Alliance (SAMA) are taken? The community loses. SAMA is staffed with volunteers who work hours and hours sorting and pricing items. They lift heavy furniture; they sort clothing; they organize and separate. All work is volunteer; each year, thousands of dollars go back into the Stockton community in several ways.
