Glen Dale Hornbeck

Posted

Nov. 10, 1933-March 16, 2019

Glen Dale Hornbeck went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 16th, 2019. He was born to Harley and Nellie Hornbeck on November 10, 1933 in Stockton. Dale, as he was known to everyone, was a gentle man, an outdoors man, he loved to fish and hunt. He would, in his younger years, go to Colorado hunting elk and deer. He loved to look for and collect arrowheads and in early spring he enjoyed to go out and hunt mushrooms.

Dale was saved when he was 13 years old at the Old Union Baptist Church. At the time of his death he was a member and deacon at the Jerico Springs Baptist Church.

He worked in the public, and held several titles: Bill Clarks Super Market for many years, Town & Country Market as the manager, Vance Brothers Quarry, then he retired and went to work for the State Park where he worked for another 20 years before again retiring. He then went to work for the Stockton R-1 Schools as a janitor and a bus driver. He was a hard worker and it was equally as hard to get him to stop. But finally his health made him stop to rest but he was always piddling with something at home on his back porch.

He married the love of his life, Edna Jeffries on November 15, 1964 and they lived happily together for 54 years. On April 1st, 1974 Stacey Beth came to grace their home. Now they have three grandchildren; Taylor, Jordan and Hunter.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Bill, who died in Pearl Harbor when the Japanese bombed the ship he was on, two nieces that he loved dearly and a lot of friends he had made through the years.

He leaves behind his wife Edna of the home; daughter Stacey of Independence; grandchildren Taylor Kemna of Warrensburg, Jordan Adams of Warrensburg, Hunter Adams of Greenwood; along with several nieces, nephews and lots of great-nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and friendship, especially a thank you to the Stockton Lake Healthcare Facility for such loving care and expressions of kindness.

Thank you,

Edna Hornbeck and Family
